Ormidale House is a thirteen bed-room, eight

bathroom historic "Laird's House" situated in

gorgeous scenery half a mile or so from the

head of Loch Riddon and the famous Kyles of

Bute. Luxuriously equipped, beautifully

furnished, and with 23 acres of gardens, the

house is a fabulous base for a holiday, or venue

for a house party. We accommodate up to 30

in total.

Now available to let by the week or for short

breaks , catered or self-catering, Ormidale was

built by Campbells in 1696 and was the clan

seat at one time. It was then extended in 1900

by Robert Lorimer into a lovely, light, airy house

with great entertaining spaces. It has bags of

atmosphere and history, but none of the

formality you get in a hotel or a grand country

house proper.

The gardens and woods will swallow significant

numbers of children for whole days at a time,

but there's plenty to do inside as well. There's

a full-size billiard room, separate children's

games room with table football and air hockey,

a table tennis room, sauna, and swimming pool,

(from Summer 2008) as well as numerous

cellars, cubbyholes and attics for hide and

seek.

The sitting room features a big telly with full

SKY plus and all the sport and movie

channels; there's a decent library - including

a full Encyclaeopedia Brittanica - split

between sitting room, dining hall, and

drawing room, and over 100 CDs. We've

supplied children's toys, adult and child-

sized jigsaws, monopoly, scrabble, playing

cards, backgammon, chess - and a full

cas ino set in the billiard room. For those

into more physical activity, we've supplied

half a dozen golf sets and a dozen bikes for

guests' use.

The Cowal peninsula is a fabulous holiday

location with walking, cycling, riding, golfing,

fishing, and all water sports available within

a few minutes of the house. We can

arrange shooting or stalking for those who

want it. The scenery around us is stunning;

if you don't want to see any of it, the house

is a lovely, comfy haven, in which to stay

put.
