Bedroom Accommodation
All but two of our 13 bedrooms have either a basin or an en suite bathroom, so there shouldn’t be much queuing necessary even with a big party.  Altogether, we have eight bathrooms, plus two separate loos downstairs - and a sauna.  The bathrooms are functional rather than luxurious – with quantity rather than quality being the selling point, here.  We have spent a fortune improving the seventeenth century plumbing, and upgrading the private water supply; we will be upgrading the fabric of the bathrooms for 2010.

We have arranged for a majority of the bedrooms rooms to be flexible, by buying extra-comfortable, sprung single divan beds that can be locked together to form super-kingsize doubles. Two of these have the spare “flipout” divan beds stored underneath. Seven of our rooms are therefore either twins, doubles, or sometimes even triples.  Seven of the first floor bedrooms are really nice big generous rooms,  with the three attic rooms enjoying the best views in the house but slightly less generously proportioned.  The quadruple bunk room is a converted cupboard but really popular with children!

We’ve gone to town with luxurious deep-fill goose and feather down duvets and pillows, and have sourced gorgeous bed-linen from the Scottish Linen Company. There’s summer weight synthetic alternatives for the allergic. Most of our rooms feature antique mahogany chests of drawers, wardrobes, and mirrors.

First Floor - 10 bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a sauna; includes six rooms that can be made up either as super-kingsize doubles or as twins
1. large twin / superking, with basin
2. twin / superking with basin
3. twin / superking with en suite shower, loo, basin
4. large twin / super king with ensuite shower, loo, basin (a slightly chillier room than the rest, three outside walls, but lovely double aspect views)

6. large twin / superking with spare single bed; en suite shower, loo, basin (lockable interconnecting door to short corridor leading to)

9. twin room (eavesish)
10. four berth double bunk room for children only
three bathrooms serve this floor; bedrooms 8 and 10 are next to the sauna room; room 9 is accessed via a separate back staircase from downstairs rear hall, or else through room 8; the downstairs rear hall has a loo; room 8 can be accessed from back staircase or main stair case; All rooms (including those that interconnect) have their own independent entrances from corridor
