Ormidale House is brilliantly situated for keen golfers. Just fifteen minutes away from the stunning James Braid-designed Kyles of Bute course above Tighnabruaich - just 9 holes, short, tricky, with some of the best views in world golf. Within half an hour we have James Braid again at Blairmore & Strone, and two courses on the Isle of Bute. Inellan and Dunoon are both highly rated 18 hole courses with stunning views of the Firth of Clyde.
We supply 4 to 6 sets of golf clubs in each of the houses on the estate for those who don’t want to take up boot space – or to pay easyjet £40 to carry them. We have recently invested in half a dozen new sets of clubs, and even have a new set of left-handed clubs available. All clubs are provided at no charge.
For keener golfers, looking for more of a championship challenge, the Carrick at Cameron House is a stunning course, just 45 minutes away on Loch Lomond-side. Macharahanish Dunes is a longer journey, with the quickest route being via Portavadie Ferry, but it is a spectacular journey and well-worth it when you get there. Both courses are in Britain’s top 100.
This year we are hosting the first Feast of Scottish Golf Tour, with PGA professional, Carnoustie record-holder, and BBC broadcaster Alan Tait, in April 2012. It features those two courses and also the Dave Thomas-designed Earl of Mar course at Inchinnan. A fabulous three day, two night package with fine wines and dining as part of the experience, the package is fully inclusive from as little as £549 per head.

Any group using Ormidale and wanting a “hosted” experience with Alan providing coaching, as well as entertainment – he is an accomplished after-dinner speaker, with great stories of his life on tour with Seve, Faldo, et al – can book him via us, at just £500 per day. Alan is Director of Golf at the Marriot Dalmahoy, so his teaching schedule is quite demanding, but he will be delighted to accompany you, coach you, and entertain you, subject to his availability. |
