COVID-19

As we go past the anniversary of our first lock-down, we are of course desperate to open up to guests again.   2020 was the most roller-coastery roller coaster of a year.  We closed our doors on Friday 20th March, with the fullest ever booking diary for any year in our history.  When we reopen, in 2021, the same will apply.

When we got to reopen last July, we had unbroken occupancy until the social shutters came down again in September with the UK-wide “rule of six” followed by Scotland’s single-family only policy. This combined with Tier-related restrictions on travel led another slew of cancellations and refunds through the autumn.

Full lockdown of course then followed, and looks set to continue beyond Easter.

It is frustrating in the extreme, but of course we need to abide by the rules.

We all have to do what we can to keep the virus at bay.

It seems that we will be allowed to open our houses up on 26th April, but with limitations on the number of households attending until we get to June.  Although we were fully booked, we may well get more cancellations for May and June as a result, and if we do, then those dates will be available to conforming parties at a discount.

We have new cleaning protocols in place for when we are able to open (using the “Good to Go” guidelines developed with British Hospitality Association and Professional Association of Self Caterers) to help minimise risk and keep guests safe.  We are asking all parties to ensure they stay safe and are gathering and travelling within guidance, so inevitably there are some changes to how guests interact on the estate (over swimming pool use etc) and some hosts will be bringing a differently made-up group to that which they had originally planned.  Compliance with restrictions is the responsibility of the Hirer rather than the House owner when we are open - and we cannot police exactly who attends and from what household; what we do know is that groups who break the law could risk actual police attendance, and fines.  We don’t want that happening at Ormidale!

We are taking bookings for later in 2021 and into 2022, at pretty much the same rates we were charging in 2019 and 2019, and hope to be able to welcome you sometime during the next year.  In the meantime, please stay safe, stay home, wash hands, wear masks, socially distance and avoid any unnecessary contact that can spread the virus.

Let’s hope we can all get back to normal, soon.

Very best wishes
