The fact that your delegates have sole use of the entire facility, rather than just a couple of function or break out rooms, makes a big difference to the atmosphere and to the ability of a course leader to deliver the desired process and outcomes.
The majority of our bookings to date have been for groups of 10 to 20 senior management. With the addition of The Mill House, Old Barn and Garden Cottage, we now have the capacity to host groups up to three times that size.

With the formal drawing room, dining hall and billiard room providing a wee bit of grandeur, but with a more luxurious and more up to date feel to the plumbing, bathroom and bedroom arrangements, it is a fairly unique atmosphere and facility. The recently installed wireless broadband connection means that your group can stay in touch with the outside world, even though we seem a million miles away.
The flexibility of the accommodation – with over 30 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms – means that you can accommodate as many as 58 guests on site without resorting to any compulsory bed-sharing measures. |
Across the four properties we have 12 separate reception rooms available for different sized groups to work in. The biggest two function rooms will each comfortably accommodate a group of 60.
We can organize a variety of different activities for your people, to break up the work aspect of the exercise.
Ormidale was for nearly 20 years the base for a training company specializing in senior management development using the outdoors as a medium. You will have your own preferences in terms of break-out activity, but here are some options that may not be on offer everywhere else - |

- Archery, paint-ball games, and Clay pigeon shooting have all been organized in the grounds for groups. We have also had high level ropes courses, and assault courses constructed in the woodland. Our Lochan, waterfall, 50 metre zip-wire, and river have been incorporated into these by development trainers.
- With thousands of acres of forestry behind us, and the Kyles of Bute a couple of miles away, we are very well placed for watersports, abseiling and other adventurous activities. The tennis court and swimming pool on site get good use from our corporate guests.
- A professional theatre company specializing in working with corporate clients – the Walk-in Theatre Company – is a near neighbour, and company Director Sadie Dixon-Spain does special deals for Ormidale parties. They can entertain your group, or even create something involving them.
- Our professional caterers from Taste Foodies run small specialist group cookery courses for clients in modules of 2 to 2.5 hours. You can choose to learn, in a hands-on way, about Breadmaking, Indian Cuisine, Seafood & Shelfish preparation, Game, or Desserts.
- For more of a pamper or a treat, we can get the team from Quay Treatments up to provide massages, aromatherapy, reflexology, or beauty treatments. With the hot tubs, saunas and swimming pool on site, a “Spa-style” afternoon or evening is now very much part of the Ormidale offering.
Although the houses are usually let on a self-catering basis and some parties prefer to look after themselves, we can provide catering for your party as required. We can offer a full residential service with three meals a day and drinks and snacks “on tap” - or we can leave you self-serving during the day with evening meals formally catered. The choice is yours. We do not dictate to you. For bigger groups, using all three houses, we have tended to set the Mill House as the dining room – we can feed 60 at a sitting in the large open plan area there. Our chef is double Michelin rosetted and can provide meals to pretty much whatever budget or standard your party requires.
Depending on whether you want single or double occupancy, and on the length of stay, midweek daily delegate rates start at below £50 per head. Catering can be as little as £20 per day per delegate for three meals. We can organize alcohol delivery for you, and can arrange for staff to serve it, but we don’t charge corkage, or any mark up. So the additional costs of hosting a get-together at Ormidale, for yourselves or your delegates, are minimal.
Just an hour and a half from Glasgow, and less than that from the airport, yet in stunning scenery, Ormidale is a genuinely exclusive venue for a conference venue. The facilities are four-star. The setting is unique. Yet we compete, price-wise, with the bottom of the market.
