You can take the houses at Ormidale and be entirely self-sufficient for catering, or you can stay with us, use our catering team and never lift a finger. You can even mix between self-catering for some meals, and catered for others. We have put together a team of chefs - all trusted and highly recommended - who will deliver to your budget and taste. They are winning rave reviews.  In the panels to the right, you can click on the  sample menus that have been satisfying our clients with delicious meals throughout 2018 and 2019.

Led by our Head Chef and Catering Manager, Marc Boyle, they can do anything from £15 to £20 per head buffets, barbecues and hearty suppers, a selection of menus for £25 to £40 for delicious formally served three and four course meals, all the way up to outstanding seven course tasting menus for £49 or £59 - and anything in between.   We always use local suppliers where we can, and we pride on ourselves on the value for money we offer.

You can also usually arrange a residential chef to come in and cook breakfast, lunch and supper for you, at a cost of between £300 and £500 a day plus ingredients, depending on the menu and numbers.

Ormidale is most often booked on a pure self-catering basis. But not everyone loves peeling vegetables for a party of 20 or more, and we know some people can do with the occasional break, or special occasional help. and the plethora of great restaurants we have near us all involve a taxi or a drive.  For a posh night in, rather than out, drinking your own wine in our stunning dining room and not having to drive, using our chefs is often the best answer.   We are in one of the best areas of the entire world for sea food - indeed Argyll as a larder is increasingly recognised by foodies all over the country.   Stunning hand-dived scallops, the best local venison, a gorgeous range of smoked products from the Argyll smoked house, succulent Scotch beef. It's your taste, your budget, and your culinary preference, that determines the menu.

We are also offering as a half way house between self-catering and catered in 2020, an enhanced Six Appeal range, which enables you to dine on our tasty range of chef-prepared dishes - usually cooked in our catering kitchen here in Ormidale - which are cooked from the freshest and best local ingredients and then either left in the fridge for you, or immediately frozen, here on site. The Ormidale Six Appeal Larder is deliberately limited in the range of dishes offered but gives you great value as well as convenience. You can choose from a generous Fish Pie topped with creamy mash, a rich pastry-topped slow-cooked melt-in-the-mouth Steak Pie, traditional Haggis Neaps & Tatties and a delicious Chicken Curry - plus two really lovely vegetarian options, of Veggie Lasagne and a Sweet Potato & Chick Pea Curry. All fresh cooked, prepared in generous servings for six people, these can be an ideal first night treat, or a great lunch, or just an easy, chef-quality option whenever you can't be bothered to chop another carrot or peel another spud.  Each of the six dishes serves six and most cost £33.  Side dishes like Mashed Potatoes, Ratatouille, Pilau Rice, or Bombay Potatoes complement the mains if required.

Our starter options are equally simple and delicious. A bowl of Smoked Salmon & Gravadlax Terrine, a smooth slab of rich chicken liver pate, and a veggie haggis neaps and tatties Wellington. We also do three separate soups - a rich lentil and roasted veg broth, a classic carrot and coriander, and a subtly spiced Thai chicken soup. Again we offer these on a fresh cooked, fresh frozen basis.. We charge £15.00 to £18 for a starter serving 6.

For puddings you can choose from another range of six delicious options – from a proper Scottish cranachan, a Sticky Toffee Pudding, a light citrus semifredo, a Coffee & Brandy infused Tiramasu, a gorgeous lemon-sharp Cheesecake, and a Marmalade Bread & Butter Pudding. Each pudding for serving six is £18.00.  We have also introduced five utterly delicious home made ice creams and a raspberry sorbet – available in 500ml, 1 litre or 2 litre tubs with flavours like Salted Caramel & Scottish Shortbread Crumb, Drambuie & Honeycomb with Orange Zest, Capuccino & Chocolate Chip, these are a gorgeous addition to the range. Icecreams are £19 for two litres.

Our catering team, led by Marc, have achieved 5 / 5 reviews from almost every customer in 2019, for the quality of the food as well as the service. 

NB Our own and our connected recommended caterers will usually be able to satisfy any requirement you have for outside catering big or small. On occasion we may allow other companies in, if there are specific reasons why one of our usual team aren't suitable. Any such agreement would always need to be in writing with ourselves.
